Reaction Time Test Online
Play our reaction time test online right now — no app to download, no account to create, no waiting. Open the page, allow camera access, and your test begins in seconds. Our browser-based hand-tracking engine delivers precise millisecond measurements from any modern device.
Why Browser-Based Tests Are Better
Downloadable apps require installation, take up storage space, and often demand system permissions that feel invasive. Browser-based tests like ours run entirely inside the sandboxed environment of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. There is nothing to install, nothing to update manually, and nothing left behind on your device when you close the tab.
Our game uses WebGL and WebAssembly — the same technologies that power browser-based 3D games — to run our hand-tracking AI at 30 frames per second without any perceptible lag. The result is millisecond-accurate reaction tracking without any native app overhead.
Works on Every Device With a Camera
Whether you are on a Windows laptop, a MacBook, a Chromebook, an iPad, or an Android tablet, our test works the same way. The only requirements are a modern browser (2022 or newer), a working front-facing or integrated camera, and a reasonably well-lit environment.
Most desktop monitors do not have built-in cameras, so on desktop PCs you will need a USB webcam. Laptops, tablets, and phones all have cameras built in. We recommend a screen size of at least 10 inches for the best gameplay experience, though the test functions on smaller screens too.
Real Physical Reaction vs. Click Speed
Many online reaction tests are essentially "how fast can you click" tests dressed up as reaction time tests. If you use a gaming mouse with a hair-trigger or a laptop trackpad with minimal travel, you can achieve artificially fast scores that have little relationship to your actual neuromuscular reaction speed.
Our hand-tracking approach removes that variable. You have to physically move your hand and form a recognizable gesture — the same kind of gross motor action involved in catching a ball, defending in a fight, or braking a car. The score you get here is a genuine measure of how fast your entire arm-and-hand system responds to a visual stimulus.
Privacy and Data Security
When you allow camera access, your video feed is processed exclusively by code running inside your browser tab. Our servers never receive any video data. No images or video frames are saved anywhere. The only data that leaves your device is your final score (if you choose to submit it to the leaderboard), which contains no personally identifying information.
You can verify this in your browser's developer tools: there are no video uploads, no WebRTC streams, and no camera-related network requests. We take your privacy seriously.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to create an account to play?
No. You can play unlimited rounds without any account. An optional account lets you save scores across sessions and appear on the leaderboard.
Does the test work on iPhone?
Yes. Safari on iOS 15 and later supports the camera and WebAssembly features needed. Make sure you allow camera permissions when prompted by Safari.
How much data does the test use?
Very little. The hand-tracking model is loaded once (about 3 MB) and then runs locally. No ongoing data is streamed to servers. It is suitable for use on limited mobile data plans.
What if the camera does not detect my hand?
Ensure you have good lighting (avoid strong backlighting) and keep your hand within the visible frame. A plain, non-cluttered background behind your hand improves detection accuracy significantly.
